Transformers falls under the Non-Mecha Robotics category of this website since each Transformer is a sentient being. This line of toys is based on the hit television series known as Transformers - Robot in Disguise.

Initially, toys could not be made based on a television series when this TV series hit the airwaves. So, in order to get around this Hasbro, the maker of the Transformers toys, worked with Marvel comics in order to create a comic book that the toy manufacturer could base toys off of. This line of toys turned out to be one of the most popular and longest lasting toy lines within the toy industry. Even today, many die-hard fans collect and spend hundreds of dollars just to get their hands on one of the original Transformer toys.

Some of the most sought after toys in this toy line include the two main leaders, Optimus Prime and Mega Tron. A large number of the avid collectors are often people who grew up watching the television series.

Over the years, the Transformer line of entertainment has proven to be very strong and successful with many different series and having strong bases throughout the world, mostly in the US and Europe and Japan.

The transformer on display in the gallery below is one of the earlier Transformers known as Omega Supreme. This Transformer could be considered one of the first base Transformers. He transforms between a giant robot and a rocket-launch capable base with a guard tank that runs around a dedicated track. This transformer also has a higher than average Transformation difficulty.
